  • Rhinoplasty Surgery

Dr. Kornstein is a member of the Rhinoplasty Society. Membership criteria is strict, confining itself to surgeons who have a committed interest in nasal surgery and a comparatively large number of rhinoplasty patients, extensive experience in practice and contributions in the realms of teaching and/or publishing.

Rhinoplasty, more commonly known as nose reshaping – is one of the most complex and challenging procedures in plastic surgery. There are several reasons you must be sure you are consulting with a specialist:

  • Nose reshaping requires an intricate knowledge of both anatomy and function of the nose. This demands consistently exceptional techniques that are not in the repertoire of all plastic surgeons.
  • Revisions to primary or even secondary rhinoplasty are higher than any other cosmetic procedure.
  • A “One size fits all” approach is an issue that can be avoided by choosing a surgeon with a keen aesthetic sense and ability to harmonize your new nose with other facial features to enhance your total look.
  • Dr. Kornstein is a super specialist in terms of form, function and renown for delivering natural outcomes. In fact, he is often referred the most challenging cases by his peers and has the distinction of being the surgeon of choice when a revision is necessary.

Deciding to change your appearance is a very personal choice. But the most important choice is the provider. Your result is totally about finding the right surgeon.

Janice, a board certified aesthetician helps others look their best on a daily basis. Looking in the mirror and then going through family photographs, it was evident Janice’s father gave her an early inheritance—her nose. “It was always on my mind. Over time I could see the progression of my father’s nose as he aged. A bit bulbous and long with a pronounced tip …it was fine on him but being in my 40’s I knew I needed to prevent the inevitable from taking hold of my appearance.” Janice was definitive about changing her nose, but not her appearance. Her biggest concern was getting a tiny pinched nose that would alter her face. Her sister in law stepped in and recommended she see Dr. Kornstein. “I knew when she told me he was a specialist in rhinoplasty that meant less chance of having to have a revision. She said he was very conservative in his approach and that was what I wanted to hear.” Janice wasn’t disappointed. At the consultation Dr. Kornstein walked her through dozens of photographs. She felt immediately comfortable and scheduled surgery soon after. “Although I was confident in Dr. Kornstein I was very anxious about the recovery. I am a big time bruiser. So my biggest surprise was no pain, little swelling and very little bruising. I wore the tape for 5 days and that was it.

Janice loves her new nose and would do in all over again—except sooner. “The before and after is a huge difference to me, but no one has ever commented that my nose looked “done.” It is totally natural, aesthetically beautiful.”

Janice’s patients often seek her advice on enhancing their appearance and she has referred many of them to Dr. Kornstein. “He is incredibly honest. He won’t give you what you want if it is not your best option. He can look at you and tell you exactly what will make the biggest difference. He is amazing at delivering results that are never overdone. I wouldn’t go to anyone else for any cosmetic procedure.”

The Artist upstairs meant for me to have this nose. I think He just might have been on a coffee break.

At 26, single and no children, Toria thought it might be the perfect time to focus on herself and fix something that had been bothering her since her early teens—the bump on her nose and associated breathing problems. During a conversation Toria confided in a friend who recommended Dr. Kornstein. “She didn’t even hesitate. For me that was enough because word of mouth is so important and I trusted her.” A consultation was scheduled. Having never had cosmetic surgery of any kind, Toria was anxious. “What if the outcome isn’t good? What if it’s worse than what I came in with? Or it’s a nice looking nose, just not meant for me? We’re talking about the center of my face…there is no hiding it.”

Toria was pleasantly surprised that Dr. Kornstein was so “personable.” “There was a connection right away. He took his time and listened and asked me questions. I was afraid it would be intimidating and snooty, but it was very relaxed. It made me trust him almost immediately.” Dr. Kornstein showed Toria pictures of other patients with similar noses and what outcome she might expect. “He already visualized the result and what would look good on me. He had an eye for it—like an artist with a canvas.” High praise from Toria who makes her living in the fine arts as a painter.

The New Year was approaching and Toria decided this was a perfect time for a positive change in her appearance. The day of surgery she remembers feeling more confident than nervous. “I felt like I got the attention I needed and was in good hands. Nothing bad would happen.”
Recovery was easier than expected. “I had no pain. I maybe took 3 Tylenol total.” There was minor swelling and bruising which Toria credits to an attentive staff and taking all pre and post op instructions seriously. “Dr. Kornstein and his nurses followed me very closely after surgery to be sure I was OK so I never felt alone.”

What has been the single most important revelation with a new profile? “It looks like I was born with this nose. The Artist upstairs meant for me to have this nose. I think He just might have been on a coffee break. I am 100% happy with my decision—no buyer’s remorse. It actually brought out other facial features and softened my overall look.” According to Toria, acquaintances can’t quite put their finger on what is different, and close friends and family say the difference is both beautiful and natural.

When asked what advice she would give someone else thinking about having rhinoplasty, Toria has plenty to say. “Narrow down a list of doctors who specialize in rhinoplasty. Do your homework but follow your intuition. Be sure you feel comfortable with the doctor—that he or she is patient, treats you like an equal, and spends quality time with you. Observe his or her staff. Their personalities matter because they are part of the team. The main advice I have is to consider Dr. Kornstein. I highly recommend him.”

“…he has the precision of a great surgeon.”

As a woman who grew up with a fairly strong self esteem I would catch myself in the mirror and be surprised that the image didn’t match the way I felt. Our culture is so visually vigilant and I always had the impression that having plastic surgery was simply about altering your personal appearance. I consider myself to be a person who believes that beauty begins on the inside . I practice yoga and mediation. I wake up feeling lucky and healthy most days. When I began considering plastic surgery I was in the middle of a divorce. I am a single parent and I just turned 50. I believed that setting the clock back would benefit my career and love life but didn’t think it would radically change my perspective. I consulted with several doctors before discovering Dr Kornstein. His opinion on what work he would do differed from the other doctors I had seen. He saw me in a more holistic way and talked to me about his impressions. His perspective was more far sighted and the surgery he performed was both dramatic and subtle. Dramatic because I look like a more beautiful, refined younger woman and subtle because nobody who looks at me thinks I did work and they have to really scrutinize and then associate it with a happy divorce, a young boyfriend and a good haircut. I instantly trusted Dr. Kornstein because he didn’t tell me what I wanted to hear. In my opinion he has the precision of a great surgeon and the point of view of a talented artist and architect. My experience with the entire office staff and anesthesiologist was comfortable, comforting and supportive. The results are nothing less than transformational. The ironic part of my experience is that I now look the way I feel. I never would have thought there was a spiritual component to having plastic surgery. There is an ease and gracefulness in how I experience being with myself now. My physical self now equals how I perceive myself from the inside out. I’m about to board a plane and the baggage handler who just checked me in also just checked me out. He handed my license back to me and said. Miss, I don’t know what you’re doing but keep doing it!

I feel and look 10 years younger

I first consulted with Dr. Kornstein early in the aging process. I was ready for a morale boost and was interested in a breast lift and augmentation after raising two young children. I was then 40 years old and Dr. Kornstein provided a comprehensive approach to the aging process. A few years after breast surgery he recommended a face lift combined with fat grafting which gave me a very natural result. Friends always comment on my youthful appearance. From the beginning I was impressed with Dr. Kornsteins professional credentials and aesthetic sense. His recommendations are always moderate, appropriate and effective and his results are always subtle, natural and beautiful. Dr. Kornstein has a sound appreciation for the artistry involved and often advises against procedures that would lead to an artificial looking appearance. Dr. Kornstein has the highest credentials and I would definitely wanted a doctor who was board certified in plastic surgery. I consulted with several other doctors before choosing Dr. Kornstein and my trust and respect has only increased over the years. I feel and look 10 years younger. Thank you Dr. Kornstein.
