Shortly after retiring from practicing law three years ago (in my mid-50′s), I decided to consult a handful of recommended plastic surgeons to find out what suggestions they had to ensure that my appearance remained as youthful as my spirit. I wasn’t interested in any radical transformation, but rather a freshening up. After consulting a number of doctors, I decided to go with Dr Kornstein. A number of factors influenced my decision–his genuine enthusiasm, his aesthetic judgments which seemed carefully geared to my needs/desires, his conservative philosophy (characterized by “less may be more”), his expertise in fat transfers (which came as a revelation), and his relative reasonableness. Among my concerns, as to which he reassured me were that, after the surgery, I should look like myself and I should look totally natural. My dealings with Dr Kornstein (and, above all, the outcome) with him completely justified the confidence that I had placed in him: he was meticulous (he undoubtedly took longer to complete the surgery than almost any other doctor would have taken to ensure that every aspect was exactly as he intended), he proceeded carefully (I had a clotting issue for which he came up with great solutions to minimize risks), he revisited anything I wanted to deal with, and his performance and the outcome were consistent with what he had promised. When I see friends or colleagues they frequently tell me how amazingly well I look, how well rested I seem and how much retirement agrees with me; new acquaintances are amazed to learn that I recently turned 60. Yet no one has ever asked whether I had surgery because everything looks completely natural. I see Dr Kornstein for occasional follow-up visits (once or twice a year), and these visits, occasionally involving the use of botox or fillers or chemical peels, normally at his suggestion, have maintained all the benefits that flowed from the original surgery.

For the last 5-6 years my wife has been seeing Andrew for Botox® and injectables. As I’d come to expect, sure enough, I’ve never seen someone take such painstaking care in patterning his teeny-tiny mini-injections for such a natural result. I frequently see female actresses in movies and on television whose faces look paralyzed or devoid of emotion by comparison, to my wife’s face. In the last year – they have added some small “filler” injections as well, and the combo is just great. Really smooth, yet not even 1% puffy or “frozen”.

I know for certain that most other doctors would have specified one implant to be slightly larger than the other, to equalize them. Andrew elected to use identical size implants – but very different techniques, for each breast, to make them symmetrical.
In June of 2008 she had the procedure and 6 weeks later it was quite clear that everything was a terrific success. Perfect size, shape, feel, symmetry, level nipples and everything we were hoping for. At 6 months it was another revelation as everything truly “settled in” and it became clear how amazingly natural she looked, and how happy she was with her appearance. She REALLY looked like “15 years” had been erased from her entire torso!

An exacting and excellent surgeon, and a compassionate man, that’s how I would describe Dr. Kornstein. When I was diagnosed with early stage breast cancer, I was very lucky that my prognosis was never in question and I had options as to what course of treatment to follow. But I felt scared and vulnerable, and faced with choices that had no certain outcomes, other than that no matter what I did, I would likely not be as I had been before. One evening, I left Dr Kornstein a long voice mail, explaining my situation, and asking if he could call me. I had been a patient several years back and knew he would give me a thoughtful and objective opinion. What I didn’t expect was for Dr Kornstein to give “excellence” and “responsiveness” new definitions. Two weeks later, I was a post-op patient, having had a mastectomy and simultaneous reconstructive surgery with Dr Kornstein and a leading breast cancer surgeon in Dr Kornstein’s surgical suite. The experience and outcome could not have been better. I was given the clear on the breast cancer and I would challenge anybody to look at me and pick the breast that was operated on. As a woman who grew up with a fairly strong self esteem I would catch myself in the mirror and be surprised that the image didn’t match the way I felt. Our culture is so visually vigilant and I always had the impression that having plastic surgery was simply about altering your personal appearance.
I consider myself to be a person who believes that beauty begins on the inside . I practice yoga and mediation. I wake up feeling lucky and healthy most days. When I began considering plastic surgery I was in the middle of a divorce. I am a single parent and I just turned 50. I believed that setting the clock back would benefit my career and love life but didn’t think it would radically change my perspective.

When I was choosing a surgeon for my facial surgery, I was living in Santa Fe, New Mexico, but on the advice of a close friend who’d done lots and lots of research, I looked at a few surgeons in Manhattan. Dr. — was one, and he sounded great, but the more I learned about what Dr. Kornstein did the more interested I became. So I called to speak with him and was soon convinced he was the surgeon for me. This surgery was the best thing I ever did for myself.. it changed my life. My clothes fit so much better and I can now wear things I just wasn’t able to wear before. I recently had breast augmentation surgery. I am 45 years old and physically in good shape, but I had lost a great deal of volume in my decolletage area. If you like plunging necklines–this can be unfortunate.

I originally had my nose done by another doctor many years ago and was never happy with the results. I would get a sinus infection almost every month which would then turn into bronchitis. I am a 14 year old girl who is relatively comfortable with my physical appearance. The one thing that always bothered me is the size and the shape of my ears.
