The Procedure

Once the incision is created, a pocket is made in the tissues of the chest to house the implant. Dr. Kornstein uses sub-muscular implant placement (under the pectoralis major muscle). It also helps avoid capsular contracture, an often-painful condition where the scar-tissue capsule that forms around the implant is thicker and tighter than usual.
After the breast implant is placed into the tissue pocket and positioned properly, the incision is closed using surgical sutures.
Recovery and Healing
Patients usually need to take around five to seven days off from work. They must avoid physically strenuous activities like heavy exercise for two to four weeks.
