Patients seek facial surgery to either prevent the aging process – the only way to “age naturally” is to carefully stay up with the aging process or to remedy poorly performed facial surgery or trauma.
Facial rejuvenation and skin tightening must be considered holistically even if only one feature bothers you. For many years it was assumed that only the face and the neck were addressed. The upper third of the face and oral area were routinely ignored. Dr. Kornstein considers all aspects of the face — the upper third or forehead area, the middle third being cheeks and the lower third, the neck — as being one anatomic unit.
When all areas of the face are rejuvenated simultaneously, they share the same clinical age and, will therefore age more harmoniously.
Non-Surgical Face Lift Deep Layer Tissue Rejuvenation
Uniquely adapted by Dr. Kornstein, our in-office procedure is painless (laughing gas and local anesthesia) and effectively rejuvenates the face.
More specifically in the upper face, it weakens the aging effects from “Botox®” muscles and elevates and reshapes the brows. Starting at the lower eyelids, it tightens, contours and rejuvenates the deep facelift layer addressing hollow lower lids, cheek descent, heavy nasolabial folds, jowling and jawline definition, as well as the tightening of the neck. Recovery is typically pain-free and lasts 2-5 days.
Facial aging occurs primarily in two layers, (1) the facial skeleton and (2) the overlying soft tissues. It begins with facial skeletal atrophy leading to loss of volume and contour. Loss of contour translates to less facial soft tissue definition that is associated with youth. Progressive skeletal volume loss leads to reduced soft tissue antigravity support and eventually descent. This is typically treated by one of many facelift techniques however the underlying cause is not treated by face-lifting—specifically skeletal volume loss.
Dr. Kornstein’s non-surgical face-lift procedure typically requires just one treatment to be performed at either our Greenwich, CT, or our West Harrison/White Plains office. With transcutaneous radio-frequency energy applied to the deep facelift layer, elevation, tightening and rejuvenation can be accomplished. Instead of surgically releasing the ligaments that support the soft tissues to the underlying bone, the tissues are tightened and rejuvenated around these supportive structures. The skin which is intimately associated with the deep facelift layer is also rejuvenated, typically by the second month post procedure. Facial contouring is seen during the procedure as heating collagen mimics collagen remodeling seen weeks and months later. Full results are seen most commonly in six months post procedure. As mentioned, this procedure can be performed in our offices located in Greenwich, CT or White Plains, NY, or in combination with facial fat grafting in the operating room as a one-time only fat grafting procedure.
In-Office Brow Lift
Traditionally the low flat eyebrow position is lifted and reshaped surgically; toxins (e.g., Botox®) can lift and reshape brows as well as address sad, angry, or quizzical expressions. However, toxins must be repeated on a regular basis, frequently every 3-4 months.
Profound® RF is a great one-time non-surgical alternative. In-office Brow Lift enables Dr. Kornstein to tighten the muscles of the forehead and weaken “Botox®” muscles under local anesthesia, thereby elevating and reshaping the brow, as well as optimizing symmetry and expression more permanently for a more natural looking brow lift.
In-Office Lip Rejuvenation
The mouth can reveal aging in many ways:
(1) Upper lip length (from nose to red lip) elongates covering the upper teeth, (2) loss of (red) lip volume, (3) vertical lip wrinkles (smoker’s lines), and (4) position of mouth corners are all signs of advancing age.
.In-office Lip Rejuvenation enables Dr. Kornstein to non-surgically tighten and rejuvenate the muscles of the mouth area. Radio-frequency energy shortens upper lip length, augments upper and lower (red) lip muscle volume, reduces upper and lower lip lines, and elevates the corners of the mouth for a natural looking lip rejuvenation.
In-Office Neck Lift
Neck laxity is one of the most common signs of early aging and the first sign of facelift recurrence. Loss of ideal neck contour may include the skin, fat, and muscle; these must all be treated in order to satisfactorily rejuvenate the neck.
